If a voltage drop of more than 10% of the root mean square (max.book118.com.) of the generator terminal voltage occurs the generation unit must be switched over to voltage support. The support of the network voltage must be provided within 20 ms after fault identification by providing reactive power at the generator terminals with a factor of 2% of the rated current per percent of the voltage drop. Switching back from voltage control to normal operation is possible after 3 seconds.
